Ashlyn Tom (she/her) is a Student Advisory Board Member at the ARCH center. Ashlyn earned her MPH from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and her BA in Anthropology with minors in Chemistry and Public Policy from New York University. She is a current doctoral student at the University of Washington in the Department of Health Systems and Population Health. Ashlyn is passionate about promoting health and language equity, analyzing healthcare policies and their impact on marginalized communities, and strengthening communication and community partnerships to advance access to care. Her current research focuses on understanding the impact of racially, culturally, and linguistically concordant patient navigation on outcomes during cancer care using anti-racist and implementation science frameworks. Outside of research, Ashlyn moonlights as a lei maker and can often be found floating in the ocean, discovering new podcasts, chasing down the next best local food spot with her partner Kenny, or enjoying quality time with family and friends. She’s a proud Hawai‘i girl at heart.
